Peter M Acland Foundation 

The Peter M Acland Foundation was registered as a charity in 2016 under the terms of the late Peter Acland's Will to provide  for those charitable objects and purposes which are recognised by the law and the High Court of New Zealand as being charitable, including to:
    1. Establish, promote and advance education and the dissemination of knowledge in journalism and its related skills, including fellowships and scholarships for journalists, and dissemination of knowledge of publications;
    2. Establish, promote and advance education and the dissemination of knowledge in literature, its development and publishing of books and journals on any subject;
    3. Establish, promote and advance education and the dissemination of knowledge in the arts of whatever nature and their development as the Foundation sees fit, including scholarships for students in any artistic endeavour;
    4. Educate entities and persons in New Zealand such as the Foundation may determine, in the maintenance and development of the aforementioned objects and purposes and in the promotion maintenance and dissemination and development of:
      1. internet websites which support the development, operation and promotion of the Foundation’s initiatives;
      2. technological advances in the distribution of information and communications;
      3. supporting and or initiating resources which extend the education and understanding of the cultural, social and economic effects of digital and any other technological information, especially in the areas of journalism and the arts, and;
      4. developing learning resources and similar material and dissemination of them.
    5. Ensure that those persons and entities supported by the Foundation are equipped in life with the essential skills and expertise to participate effectively in the knowledge and information economy and technological advances in those areas of life which are supported by the Foundation.
    6. Make provision from time to time from the Foundation’s capital or income in the Foundation’s absolute discretion for each of:
      1. New Zealand Red Cross Incorporated;
      2. The Salvation Army New Zealand;
      3. The Wellington City Mission (anglican trust board);
      4. Wellington Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Inc;
      5. Life Flight Trust;
      6. The Mary Potter Hospice.
    7. Promote the relief of sick, or injured, impotent or poor persons who have worked, or are working, in any of the areas of journalism, publishing, literature, media or communications.
    8. Establish and maintain connections and cooperate with organisations in New Zealand and overseas which the Trustees determine to be advantageous to the Foundation.
    9. Solicit and raise funds and carry out activities which support and promote the work as defined in the Objects of the Foundation.
    10. Ensure that, at all times the Foundation carries out what needs to be done to achieve the aims defined by these Objects.
    11. Do any lawful act nationally and internationally which advances the above charitable aims.
